My name is Shannon Williams and I have taught elementary music for 20 years, all of which have been in Southeast Ohio.  I am originally a native of Portland, Oregon, and have been a resident of Athens, Ohio for more than 20 years.  I graduated from Wichita State University with a BM in saxophone performance in 1994.  I received my MM in saxophone performance from Bowling Green State University as well as a Masters of Music Education and Ohio Licensure in K-12 Music.  I have tried to remain active as a saxophonist by performing at regional and national conferences as well as local music events.

In recent years, much of my teaching interest has focused on developing instructional activities that combine music and technology.  I have served as a Technology Facilitator at The Plains Elementary for 10+ years and received specialized training in Smartboard repair and Infinite Campus operations.  I have also received my certificate as a level 1 and 2 Google Certified Educator.  In addition, I also completed the Google Certified Trainer program.  Most recently,  I finished course work toward a PhD in Instructional Design at Ohio University and am nearly finished with my dissertation.
The focus of my research is on using social media to support teacher professional development.  I look forward to graduating at the end of this year!  (Click here for my resume/CV)
Below you will find some of the other tech related projects I have been working on.
If you would like advice on creating similar projects, just let me know.
Here's a fun little video I made using a DSLR camera and imovie.
I made this video using Explain Everything (for iPad) and iMovie.
